What is Detox?

Detoxification is generally referred to as the process of cleansing and alkalizing the body; so that the obstructions that keep your cells from functioning properly (acids, mucus, parasites, chemicals, but also negative emotions) are removed, and the body is given the chance to regenerate damaged tissues.

We have grown so detached from our own bodies that most people don’t realize how toxic and congested they are. Consuming processed foods, excessive eating, breathing polluted air, wifi radiation, the use of antibiotics, pesticides, lack of sunlight, stress etc. all lead to an accumulation of metabolic wastes and toxins within the body. If you’re not regularly cleaning them out of your system, the toxins build up at a faster rate than your body can be rid of them – your eliminative organs (colon, kidneys, liver, skin and lungs) can only take so much.

Negative thoughts and emotions have the same effect on the body. As the emotion triggers the release of certain hormones that weaken the immune system, our physical health declines. When the system becomes clogged, symptoms appear. These can range from feeling a little tired and needing to nap during the day, to more severe issues like diabetes, autoimmune diseases, etc. At this point, the terrain you cultivate on the inside will allow for viruses and parasites to enter and grow within the body, and may cause an overgrowth of microorganisms that can seriously harm your health.

People are wildly unaware of how overworked their organs are. We have come to a point where we simply accept that we are in poor health – but we can take control and change things for the better. We may not be able to control external environmental factors, but we have control over what goes into our mouths.

Who Will Benefit From a Fast?

Almost everyone. The only exceptions are pregnant women and nursing mommas. Everyone else can benefit from a fast. If you have any medical conditions, let us know in advance so we can adjust the program accordingly.

Should I Prepare for a Fast?

It is vital to ease your body into fasting mode. If you go straight from eating a standard diet to fasting, it can be quite a shock to the system. Ideally, you should avoid putting unnecessary stress on your body. Once you book a detox program, we will send you a free pre-fasting guide, and ask that you follow for at least three days prior to your fast. Ideally, you would spend at least one week preparing your body. You can choose to include the pre-fast program in your stay at Wonderland.

Will I Have Energy to Participate in Other Activities Offered at Wonderland?

The answer is yes and no. There will be days when you will feel like a brand new person, bursting with energy and ready to take on the world. Other days, you might want to take it easy and give your body some rest. It has been working overtime and deserves a break every so often. Just try to listen to your body and take the fast as an opportunity to truly reconnect with yourself, and respect its needs without judgment.
