Yoga means union or oneness, and is essentially an ancient science which utilizes the body to advance our evolutionary process. ‘Ha’ means sun and ‘tha’ means moon, meaning there are both “hot” and “cool” postures to bring balance to the mind, body and spirit.

Benefits of Hatha Yoga

Yoga is the perfect accompaniment to a Detox program because it is gentle, and yet the stretching, twisting, and compression involved in holding the asanas (postures), improves circulation, regulates digestion, and stimulates the lymphatic system. Yoga is particularly beneficial for the liver, squeezing out toxins and encouraging the bodies’ waste disposal system to function properly, while stimulating the lymph nodes – which can otherwise hold onto toxins, causing a multitude of health issues.

Hatha Yoga is suitable for all levels of fitness, and will teach you through regular practice to become more conscious of your body and its needs. Anyone who has ever experienced a back ache, or knee pain will know that the state of the physical body has enormous power over our mental states. When the body is in a state of dis-ease, it can disrupt all other aspirations in our lives, leading to depression, unhealthy lifestyle choices and a sense of powerlessness to effect positive change. Many chronic pain conditions can be completely cured with a committed yoga practice. A flexible spine is the basis for good health and vitality.

Most people in the West live at the mercy of their untamed ‘monkey mind’, buffeted here and there by the winds of circumstance. The practice of pranayama (breathing exercises), help bring peace to the mind and body, preparing us for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation. If your body and mind are not comfortable simply sitting in stillness, it is a signal of a deeper dis-ease and misalignment with life. Meditation teaches us to grow roots deep into the earth, so that when the winds of circumstance blow, we can stay grounded and centered in our being.

Our yoga teachers are highly qualified and experienced in working with the particular needs of detox clients. Each detox package includes daily yoga classes and we highly recommend that you take advantage of the benefits of practice.
